FALL MEETING

Our Fall Meeting was a lovely event.  Our speaker, Marta McDowell, was so entertaining and informative.  Her other books are listed in her information below.  We were also excited to have in attendance Landscape Architect Warren Johnson who has worked with us as our landscape architect for over 25 years.  He worked with with Morgan Wheelock to implement Phase I.  Following that, Warren designed and implemented Phase II.  He continues to do all our design work.

We extend our special thanks to The Lumen for providing hotel acommodations to our guest speaker Marta McDowell, Lane Florist and Pier Burgess for sourcing our beautiful centerpieces, and to our dedicated Board Members for generously contributing your time and talents all throughout the year.

Thank You to our Chairs - Colby Baer, Cindy Large, and Joanie Stephens

Marta's work typically follows the relationship between the pen and the trowel, which is authors and their gardens. Her latest book Unearthing The Secret Garden explores the plants and places that inspired Frances Hodgson Burnett to write the classic children's book. Timber Press also published Emily Dickinson's Gardening Life, The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder, All the Presidents' Gardens, and Beatrix Potter's Gardening Life. All the Presidents' Gardens made The New York Times bestseller list and won an American Horticultural Society book award in 2017. Beatrix Potter's Gardening Life won the Gold Award from the Garden Writers Association and is now in its eighth printing. Her books have been translated into Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and Korean. Marta's next book, about plant and horticulture themes in crime fiction, will be called Gardening Can Be Murder and is due out from Timber Press in September 2023.
